The Aphrodisiacs Drink Meme

[She frowns, then sweeps her hair back straight back across her head and starts walking to the side. She'll give him some space, but not for long.]

[he falters for a second, then remembers something.]

Isn't there a cave or something out here? I'd rather go there.

[both for his own comfort and so he's not up a tree with Riku at the bottom blocking the only means of escape.]

[She points toward where the Secret Place entrance is, near the fresh water stream.]

But there's even less light in there, and it'll be colder. The treehouse is more protected and dry, plus you can hang your clothes on the rail.

[There aren't any ulterior motives behind that, by the way. It's just the better choice to her, after years of experience. And if we're being perfectly honest, it would be in terms of getting around her, too. He could easily walk around the treehouse and jump over her if she was at the ladder. The cave only has one exit large enough to fit through.]

[she doesn't know what he knows, though. P: without answering her, he turns and heads toward the cave. he doesn't want to be up high, and he's not taking his clothes off when she can get to him so easily. he has a plan, and he hopes he has enough strength to pull it off, and that it'll keep her from getting to him.]

[Oh whatever. She heads for the shed or whatever it's called, the small building that leads to an upstairs compartment toward the bridge. She'll leave him alone for now!]

[yeeeeeeee. he goes into the cave, crawling and flattening himself on the ground and much as he can, and flops down inside to give himself a few minutes to rest and rebuild his strength now that he's safe. it'll take a bit longer to coax Hachibi out of where he's buried himself, but he still has access to most of Hachibi's chakra (what's left of it, anyway), so he should be fine for what he wants to do. he scoots over to the entrance of the cave and starts digging with his hands, slowly. it takes him probably ten minutes, but he has a pile of sandy earth big enough to pack into the opening. he rests for another few minutes and then summons all his energy and chakra and flattens his hands against the blockade, forcing pure, white-hot fire through and against it. it solidifies it, fusing it into the cracks in the rock surrounding it, and making a barrier that Riku will have to throw spells at if she wants to get through it, and that runs the risk of bringing part of the cave down on top of him, which hopefully she won't want to do. even if she does, he'll have a decent warning when she gets started.]

[She'll show up some time later with a large cloth draped over one shoulder and a glass bottle filled with fresh spring water. She doesn't notice the barrier right away in the darkness, and doesn't until she nearly crashes into it. Seconds later she's pounding on it, calling for Axel. Whether he can hear it or not it'll stop after a few minutes, and he won't hear anything for some time.]

[he can sense that she's out there, and if he really strains his ears he can tell that she's yelling, but fuck that, he gives no fucks what she wants, as long as she can't come in. he's laying on his back on the ground, eyeing the hole in the ceiling of the cave dubiously, but he can see a tree branch right above it, so she most likely wouldn't be able to get in that way.]

[Damn you, Axel! You've uncovered her plan. It's not large enough to fit through, but sure enough, a few minutes later Riku's face is popping into view.]

[he did strip out of his wet clothes once he'd secured the cave, so he curls onto his side when she appears so he's not just giving her a free show. it might give her ideas, considering how she seems to feel about him right now.]

Go away.

[Truth be told, the drink was laced with aphrodisiacs, but they haven't fully kicked in. Or maybe her willpower is just that impressive. She has better thing to concentrate on!]

And go where? I was going to bring you some water to drink, but the entrance is blocked. What'd you do?

I'm not telling you, and after what you did I'm not going to want any amount of water near me for a week or more.

[he hasn't even checked his phone to see if it still works; between the ocean and the flares of chakra he was throwing out, he's just assuming it's done for. all he really wants right now is to go to sleep, even though he's almost certain to have nightmares, but he can't relax when she's still moderately determined to get to him.]

You have to drink something or you'll get dehydrated. Here. I'll lower it down with a blanket. All you have to do is catch it so it doesn't break.

[She settles back, not waiting for a response before she starts tying it around the bottle. It's glass, one of the things they kept stored on the islands for playtime.]

[if he gets to keep the blanket, he'll be slightly more appreciative. and hey, the bottle could be broken and used as a weapon if need be! he reluctantly squints up at her and sits up enough so he'll be able to catch it.]

I really won't, but okay.

[The look she gives him is slightly more like herself. But then she's pushing the bottle through the hole and lowering it down to him. Once he has a grip on it, she'll let go of the blanket.]

[yeah thanks, lady. he rolls the bottle off to the other side of the cave, away from him, and wads up the blanket to put under his head, wrapping his arms around himself and apparently settling in to sleep. you're being ignored now, Riku.]

[She settles down to watch him, in that case.]

[wow that's creepy. after about ten minutes of trying to rest while being stared at, he grumpily gets up again and moves into the shelter of one of the massive tree roots coming through the wall of the cave, so that her view is at least partially obscured. take that, Riku.]

[There's an audible sigh from Riku, and then the sound of her moving away. If he's going to be like that, she'll just use the opportunity to go work on other plans.]

[o good. he manages to get some fitful sleep during however long she's gone. it's not restful, but it lets him recharge a bit and calm down. what the hell is she planning.]

[A lot of things. As it is, she'll be gone for a couple of hours. Stripping down to hang her own clothes out to dry, swimming out to catch a pile of fish, which they'll need for food, since she doesn't plan on taking them back into the DR any time soon. Not as long as he isn't cooperating, anyway. She's also gathering wood for a fire on the opposite side of the island. Basically, she's been busy.]

[well, once he gives up on sleep after those couple of hours, he gets up to look around the cave and see what his options are. they're pretty limited, and he knows that, but it's not stopping him. there's the door, which won't open for him at all, and would probably resist being attacked, so he doesn't even bother. he's got a little water now, which, truth be told, he probably should have some of, but not for a while. he doesn't have any food unless Riku's planning on dropping some down and/or bribing him to come out with it. he has no idea how long she's planning on keeping him here, or how long the spell on her might last. his phone is totally fucked up from everything, so at least if Kai tries to call him after a while it'll give him some kind of indication that something's wrong, but that wouldn't be of much help. his only real options for escape are:

1) doing some kind of reverse thing through his necklace that's linked to the ones Riku and Nami and Kai and people have, specifically to Nami's, and hoping that Nami would be able to follow it to him with a portal and get him out.

2) trying to somehow tunnel his way back to the mainland– no, that's stupid and implausible even for him. option two is killing himself and hoping he comes back in the DR and somewhere that isn't here. but that's kind of dramatic for the situation, when he's fully capable of waiting Riku out for at least a couple of days. this still sucks, though. :( ]

[He's free to try any or all of those ideas while she's busy. But eventually she will be coming back, at least to check up on him. She's tossed her mostly-dry shirt back on at that point, but the jeans and shoes are left behind.]

Axel?

[he's sitting with his back against one wall of the cave, looking contemplatively at a large, rough shard of pseudo-glass he's holding in his hands. there are more shards of it on the ground some distance away; he blasted a patch of sand until it turned mostly to glass, and then busted it up with a rock. he's not seriously considering killing himself to get away, but the thought is there. at least now he has a weapon to use against her if he needs to.]
